PRIVACY POLICY

STEPPPS is built by STBL Creative. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

The short version: We collect what's needed to run the app — your email, your steps, and the basics. Your steps sync to our servers so your team leaderboards work across devices. We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.

DATA WE COLLECT

Account Information

• Email address (for account creation and authentication)
• Authentication tokens (to keep you signed in)

Step & Activity Data

• Daily step counts (from Apple Health on iOS, Health Connect on Android)
• Distance and floors climbed, where available
• Your daily step goal and historical step records
• Walks you record in the app

Location Data

• Your route (GPS location) while a walk is active — used to map your walk and measure distance

Team Data

• A display name you choose
• The teams you create or join, and your step totals shown on those teams' leaderboards

App Settings & Diagnostics

• Your preferences (notification times, display settings)
• Anonymous crash and error reports (via Sentry) to help us fix bugs

DATA WE DON'T COLLECT

• Your contacts
• Your photos
• Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
• Any health data beyond steps, distance, and floors climbed

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

• To display your step count, distance, and progress
• To sync your data across your devices
• To show team leaderboards to you and the teammates you've invited
• To record and map the walks you track
• To send notifications you've enabled
• To generate your weekly reports
• To diagnose crashes and fix bugs

That's it. We don't use your data for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

TEAMS & SHARING

STEPPPS lets you create or join private teams with friends and family. When you're on a team, your chosen display name and your step totals are visible to the other members of that team. You decide your display name, who to invite, and which teams to join, and you can leave a team at any time.

Team data is only visible within STEPPPS to people on your team. It is never shared publicly, and we never sell it.

WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES

On your device: Step data from Apple Health or Health Connect, cached settings, and local preferences.

In our database: Your account info, step history, team data, and settings are stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). This enables syncing across devices, team leaderboards, and reports.

We don't share your data with third parties except the service providers required to operate the app — our database host (Supabase/AWS) and our crash-reporting provider (Sentry). We never sell your data.

HEALTH DATA

STEPPPS reads your step count — and, where available, distance and floors climbed — from Apple Health on iOS and Health Connect on Android. We only read this data to show it to you and your teams; we never sell it or use it for advertising. You can revoke access anytime:

• iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → STEPPPS
• Android: Health Connect → App permissions → Steppps

LOCATION

When you start a walk, STEPPPS records your route using your device's location so it can show your path on a map and calculate distance. Location is collected only while a walk is active. You can revoke location access anytime in your device settings.

DATA RETENTION

We keep your data as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. See steppps.app/delete-account for how to delete it.

YOUR RIGHTS

You can:

• Export your data (contact us)
• Delete your account and all data (in Settings, or see steppps.app/delete-account)
• Opt out of notifications (in Settings)
• Revoke health or location access (in your device settings)

CHILDREN

STEPPPS is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

CHANGES

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Continued use of the app means you accept the changes.
